I always love to have the opportunity to thank the totally amazing volunteers in our sport. They give their time and work so hard so that others can enjoy their sport and follow their dreams.

Congratulations to all the brilliant volunteers who received an award and a big thanks to them for all they do.
I will be forever grateful for all the volunteers that have enabled me to have an athletics career.

This year was a very emotional one as we paid tribute to Sara Robert from @avonvalleyrunners
Sara was such a wonderful lady who did so much to encourage and support everyone. I had the honour of meeting Sara on several occasions and she really was an amazing and lovely lady.

10 years ago today :)

25 years after I first put on a GB U20 vest at the age of 15 I finally won a European champs gold. It was so nice having Gav, my kids and parents in the stadium. I’d had a lot of injury struggles during parts of my early career which made the win feel sweeter. Thanks to coach and husband @gavruns

In 2005 when they announced London would host the 2012 Olympics I remember thinking to myself that at 38 I’d probably be far too old to qualify. I never imagined that I’d actually carry on beyond that! It taught me to never give up on your goals, keep going and find a way to overcome any challenges. There will be ups and downs along the way but relish the journey and keep going. You’ll never know unless you try and if you keeping trying then one day you might just surprise yourself.

Then we headed to Dartmoor with the kids for a hike :)

Getting very excited now with the @paris2024 opening ceremony happening tonight! This pic was taken on the day of the opening ceremony of the @london2012olympics
My lovely team mate @mara_yamauchi and I got a photo with the brilliant throwers in our team.
We were still in Portugal doing our final preparations at the team training camp as the athletics starts later in the Olympic schedule. We did get to go to the closing ceremony though!

Good Luck to all the @teamgb athletes. You are all totally amazing and I know you will all do your best and do our country proud. 👏

🎶Fezeka is of Xhosa origin, a Bantu ethnic group in South Africa. In Xhosa, Fezeka means “she is accomplished” or “she has accomplished her purpose.” I don’t think as an athlete you ever quite feel that way, you always want more, but I think you should always be happy to feel that you did your best.

This track session (27th April 2006) is in my diary: 5x800 & 6x400. I wrote windy & that it was very tough! Sessions at altitude in Ermelo often felt tough!

I was running over 100miles/wk by this stage of my career & @gavruns was also running loads of miles purely to train alongside me & pace🥰

My career had been in tatters in the 1990s due to mistakes as a junior but Gav helped me to turn it around using a sustainable approach.

When this clip was filmed I was running high volumes which after all the injury struggles & two surgeries in the 1990s I never imagined I’d ever be capable of.

I had high levels of belief and trust in the process. So many runners rush & hit high volumes far too soon & don’t sustain it. They may sometimes achieve a one off good performance or a few good years before unfortunately being unable to sustain a career. It took me years to gradually progress to high volumes & when I did I was able to respond positively.

Well done to all the athletes who competed in the Olympic Trials this weekend. There was some amazing action and lots of awesome performances!

It’s a weekend of highs and lows as athletes fight for their places. The Olympics is the ultimate goal of all athletes and whilst some will be fulfilling their dreams others will be filled with disappointment. However by lining up and being there each athlete should be extremely proud that they gave it a go! You can only ever try your best! For those who were disappointed there will be future opportunities.

This clip is from the 2012 Olympic Trials in Birmingham. It was a bit nerve-racking to leave it so late😂 At 38 years old it was such a huge honour to be going to a home Olympic Games.

The first time I ran here was at the 1988 Olympic Trials but only because they incorporated some of the under 15 national championship races into the programme.

Huge well done to @innes_fitzgerald on her first Olympic Trials at just 18!! She was rewarded with a new PB of 15:26 📈🔥Most importantly she gained valuable experience and ran a really controlled mature race.👏

It’s a weekend of highs and lows as athletes fight for their places. The Olympics is the ultimate goal of all athletes and whilst some will be fulfilling their dreams others will be filled with disappointment. However by lining up and being there each athlete should be extremely proud that they gave it a go! You can only ever try your best! For those who were disappointed there will be future opportunities.

This clip is from the 2012 Olympic Trials in Birmingham. It was a bit nerve-racking to leave it so late😂 At 38 years old it was such a huge honour to be going to a home Olympic Games.

The first time I ran here was at the 1988 Olympic Trials but only because they incorporated some of the under 15 national championship races into the programme.

Huge well done to @innes_fitzgerald on her first Olympic Trials at just 18!! She was rewarded with a new PB of 15:26 📈🔥Most importantly she gained valuable experience and ran a really controlled mature race.👏

It’s been so warm these last few days but throughout my running career I always loved training in hot conditions☀️

@gavruns & I didn’t take many photos or film during my career but we have dug out a few clips which bring back some fond memories.

During much of my career I trained in South Africa where I ran hundreds of miles on the trails near Dullstroom. The clip was filmed just after returning from the Melbourne Commonwealth Games. I trained in South Africa between 2001-2008 but this all came to an abrupt end when we started a family in 2009. It was then back to the British winters!🌧️😂

After we had kids we spent the winters 2009-2016 back in the UK juggling a busy family life but this showed us that you could still get all the necessary work done pretty much anywhere!!😊

So remember wherever you are you just need to get out there and get the work done!😊
